This new board is the start of a new line
of products that Simple Step we will be coming out with in the next 6 months
that will allow controllers packaged on the back of motors. These new controllers
are based on a Philips ARM7 32 bit processor running at 58.9MHz and will
have everything software controlled. A new feature of this unit is the power
up configuration registers that allow the user to program the power up
values like board address, baudrate, communications prefix characters (both
TXD and RXD characters), RTOS active or disabled, etc.. Also there is a
axis configuration storage area that allows the user to configure the
motor axis (Power setting, top velocity, start velocity, slope, etc.) and is
used every time the board powers up for the first time. The new ARM will
have standard features that where options for the XA product line. They
include RTOS, 32 motor movement, etc. Some of the features are as follows :

- Optical Motor Home input.
- User programmable advanced acceleration and deceleration settings based on User
Programmable Start Velocity, End Velocity and Slope.

- One (1) Bipolar Stepper motor drive.
- Single 7.0 - 25.0VDC operation.
- RTOS, Trip, prescaler, 8K IEEPROM and 32 options are now standard on all ARM controllers..
- Up to 1.5 amp/phase, switching mode current controlled motor phase outputs (Software
adjusted).
- User Programmable Baud Rates (9600, 19.2K, 38.4K, 57.6K (default), 115.2K,
230.4K and 460.8K).
- Multiple
boards on a single serial port and the ability
to intermix Simple Step board types on the network
- New power-up configuration storage area.
- New power-up axis storage area.
- On Board software network address switch select
using the old single digit address control or the new 2 digit address
control (will allow up to 256 controllers on 1 line).
- Multi-drop RS422/RS485 communications
with up to 256 controllers on 1 serial line..
- One (1) User Input/Output Line.
- Software Programmable Home and Limit Sensor Check.
- Diode protected Home and Limit Sensor.
- On Board 3.3V switcher and 1.8V LDO regulator with
programmable Power LED.
- Board Size 1.65 x 1.65" x
0.6"
- Large Dynamic Velocity range (from
1 step per second to 20,000 steps per second
depending on stepping mode).
- Software Programmable Motor Power Settings (256 power levels!)
- Up to +/-2,147,483,647 steps of
motion.
- EMI (radiated) filtering on all boards to allow
FCC and CE approvals.
- Simple ASCII command set allowing use of standard PC communications packages.
- Decimal or Hexadecimal ASCII numeric values can
be used.
